Black

Well this abt one more movie... Black, though its a bit old its a fantastic movie with mind blowing performance from Rani Mukherjee, AmitabBachan and the kid who plays Rani Mukherjee. Fantastic movie..the way its been made the way the actors have palyed their parts is truly amazing. The one scene that stays with u after the movie is the one where Rani Mukherjee gives her Graduation speech.. There are no words for their performance... also a gr8 direction by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He seems to be doling out one good movie after the other. If there are ppl out there who havent yet watched it pls do..its worth ur time.. Similar movies that i liked are Phir Milenge, which had an AIDS patient as the protagonist. Another well thought out and a well made movie.. Have been hearing gr8 reviews of My Cousin Nikhil... lets see how that turns out.... waiting to see such movies.. At last Bollywood is making movies that are worth ur time and not just candy floss and girl meets boy movies. They have been doing that for a while but not as often as now... Raincoat is another such gud movie...real gud acting in that as well

Watched 2 old movies based on the city of Mumbai. One was Satya, a Ram Gopal Verma movie, the other was Bombay, a Mani Ratnam movie. Both excellent movies. Cant believe i missed these movies before....both picturizing in a completely different way...though Bombay scared me wit its Shiv Sena picturization...it looked like there was a new Adolf Hitler (in fact there were 2 in the movie the Muslim counterpart) in the world and we wud hav genocide again on our hands........

yeah dude...black truly rocks....though some parts were a little overdone, on the whole it was a terrific piece of filmmaking....the only places where bansali slipped was when he wanted to have some standout "bhansali" scenes....but the performance of the little girl was simply mindblowing....you might be forgiven if you thought she was really blind!! I believe she has never acted before and did not know who amitabh bachchan was!...kewl or what!

Ayesha Kapoor- i think that was her name. outstanding performance for a girl of her age.too good! How much she has been able to penetrate into that character and play it to such perfection?! That raw, wild character, very well written and potrayed. It seems Rani was forced to do her best after she saw the girl's performance.Cos if she played the 'grown up' character even a lil bad, then it will ruin the whole effect the lil girl brought in the beginin of the movie. Great to hear that the Hindi film industry is finally changing for the better- thanks to a new breed of directors. But funny... that there seems to be this parallel foray of cheap sleaze kind of movies and loads of remakes... like Shabd(remake of old award winnin mal movie) , Zameer(remake of yet another mal movie), Jurm(Double Jeopardy), Rogh...etc. I hear Pg3 was great... i hope i'l get to see it this weekend on CD. :) And Ayesha not knowing who amithab bachan is - has to be crapin man! dont you think?

Aru,

so this is the movie you've been talking about. Sounds good..well-written review.
i'll check it out if it's available. I'm always game for a good movie, bolly or hollywood.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

I did like the performance of all the actors in the movie, but i still believe that there can be better subjects upon which we can make movies on.

I know many of them will not agree with me for the last statement. Just watch the performance of Al Pacino in the movie "Scent of a Woman".
